Free Email and Telephone help

I will be available to offer help and advice on all matters pertaining to the health and training of your "Astra Sheepdog" no matter where you live. We will also endeavour to keep you informed when I am scheduled to give a talk or training seminar in your country of residence.

Guaranteed parentage as registered with the ISDS.

Registration to be complete by the pups six month birthday. At present all our puppies and dogs can also be registered with the UK Kennel Club.

Four Weeks FREE insurance

We will give all UK (Eire and Northern Ireland excluded) purchasers four weeks free insurance from a leading insurance company, we reccommend that you take insurance cover for your new pup to cover any unforseeable mishaps.

Microchip

All our puppies are microchipped on the day that they leave us, Petlog registration is included all non Uk residents must ensure that they transfer the microchip details to their countries registry as soon as possible to that if lost your dog can be reunited with you when found. USA owners are encouraged to have the pup microchipped again on arrival as our chips are not usually found with the standard readers in the USA. (USA customers can send a microchip to us for insertion and recording on the registration doccuments, as ours are not read by your common readers)

Genetically healthy to work

We have tested our breeding stock and investigated their pedigrees for known information regarding hereditable health problems, we are confident that our dogs are genetically healthy to perform a job such as herding/agility/flyball. should it be found that the dog is unable to work due to a genetic fault (not injury) such as HD, CEA, PRA, Impaired Hearing, OCD, Epilepsy by the age of three years, the defect must be proved to be genetic and preventable by DNA testing or in the case of HD plates be submitted to the BVA for scoring, subject to a veterinary certificate and confirmation from my own veterinary surgeon we will refund the full purchase price of the puppy.

Temperament

Temperament is very important for any animal. We have gone to great lengths to ensure that the temperament of our breeding animals is excellent and we have put in enourmous time and effort into the socialisation of our puppies to ensure that they have the best possible start to life as a working or performance dog.

If the new owner does not continue an extensive regime of on going socialisation with all groups of people from babies, toddlers through the genders to mature persons and take the dog into many different situations we are unable to guarantee the temperament of the puppy.

However we will be happy to help and give advice in any behavioural issue; and would guarantee to take the dog back for retraining/rehabilitation even rehoming should the situation get out of hand, UK & Ireland only, for other countries we shall endeavour to help source the most suitable help in this regard.

Herding Instinct

Our Border Collies are bred foremost for their herding ability and we would be happy to guarantee that pups sold to herding homes will show instinct to herd sheep by the time they are 12 mths of age, provided that the pup has been well kept and socialised with people, animals and transport.

It is essential that the pup has never been challenged or frightened when introduced to stock at any time.

Puppy not suitable for your lifestyle or chosen preformance sport?

Iin my experience the dog will not be happy if an owner is unhappy with the dog.

For example:

  • dog has bad behaviour issues not responding to the owners handling (usually this is caused because the owner and dog are not compatible)
  • dog not suitable for the disipline intended (usually because the owner wants more from the dog than the dog can give.)
  • and there are many, many more...............

In this situation the dog would be physcologically better off placed into a new more compatible home, where the owner does not require to place the same or similar expectations on the dog thereby reducing the stress the dog has to undergo.
Sometimes our human sentimentality and ego does not allow us to let the dog go even when the dog will be better off without us or our situation.

I am not a dumping ground; we will work with our owners to resolve all issues before advising rehoming the dog,

We must be involved with the final desicion as to what happens to the dog.
